Metamorphoses of criticality, public intellectuals and the perils of "endangered powers"

The changes in contemporary society, closely linked to the political and cultural crisis, the decline of tradition and powers, the transformation of academic institutions and community, are reflected in the loss of public intellectuals - educators of critical thinking having a positive social influence and encouraging creativity in self-expression. The upheavals of global world, the rise of managerial capitalism and a negative evolution of university realities are opening a large gap between scholars and representatives of press as asphere of mass media. Public discourse becomes the "property" of globalized, corporate media, therefore scholars and so-called erudite thinkers become persona non grata in both public space and governance. Political government does not seek cooperation with representatives of science and art, the expulsion of intellectuals from the public space causes irreversible changes and changes the mental climate of the world. Negative attitude towards intellectuals is related to general provisions of government, social norms of exclusion, and a lack of communication. Solitary intellectuals experience creative and media isolation. The predominant denial of critical thinking, free opinion, and the importance of public conscience has led to the general public position - dislike for intellectuals (Fran Lebowitz), moving them into the spiritual wilderness. However, intellectual landmarks, important insights, positive criticisms and comments remain particularly relevant in the face of new challenges, delineating the existential dimensions of the present world. New technological invasions of intelligence are changing the overall mental landscape. The challenges to public intellectual survival are growing every day. By focusing on the most important existential priorities, we must preserve critical reflection, the power of feelings, the autonomy of thinking, without succumbing to a leveling universality
